Our member Manjiri Gokhale, Mentoring Coordinator at University of Oxford, a PhD candidate on a scholarship awarded by Queen Mary University of London and Co-Founder of MayaCARE is also an author. Her sixth book, “𝐈𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐧𝐚𝐦𝐞 𝐨𝐟…”, was released by author, columnist and commentator Shobha De at a packed hall of Mumbai Marathi Patrakar Sangh. Former journalist and former Diversity and Inclusion Head at Said Business School, Oxford University, Manjiri has written six books, including the recently launched one.
Fellow members of 𝐎𝐧𝐥𝐲 𝐖𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧 turned up, along with her colleagues and friends, in large numbers for the launch ceremony, which was followed by an interactive session between the audience, Chief Guest Shobhaa De and Manjiri. Abhay Joshi and Vidyottama Sharma, Founder of only Women were the hosts for the evening. Actor Nilu Kohli, another member of Only Women, read excerpts from the book along with Deepali Khetriwal and Adhishree Wadodkar. The book is titled “Kasha Kashachya Navane” in Marathi.
“As citizens who care about the rightness of living our lives the way we choose to especially in a democracy — we still call ourseves that and it continues to be secukar and the constitution has not been changed, we have the right to speak our mind and that right cannot be taken away from us,” said De. “It cannot be snatched by anybody and we don’t have to use euphemisms, allegorical references, camouflage the truth because it is going to offend somebody”.
Manjiri shared the thought behind the book and the experiences she had while writing it. Only Women is very proud of Manjiri’s accomplishments and wishes her immense success with her latest book.
