Leadership learning extends far beyond boardrooms and business decisions โ€” it also lies in understanding the cities we inhabit, the histories we inherit, and the cultural movements that shape our worldview.

In that spirit, a group of Only Women members participated in an enriching learning session on Art Deco, the iconic design movement reflected across architecture, design and everyday objects. The session was led by Tinaz Nooshian, Creative Director of Art Deco Alive!, whose deep insights brought alive the evolution, aesthetics and enduring relevance of this influential style.

Members visited the โ€œOcean Drive to Marine Driveโ€ exhibition at the Dr. Bhau Daji Lad Museum, exploring the richness of Mumbaiโ€™s Art Deco heritage. The exhibition was part of a larger celebration marking 100 years of the landmark Exposition Internationale des Arts Dรฉcoratifs et Industriels Modernes โ€” the Paris showcase that gave the Art Deco movement its name.

The experience offered members a deeper appreciation of how global design movements have shaped Mumbaiโ€™s unique architectural identity โ€” reinforcing the idea that well-rounded leadership is as much about cultural awareness as it is about professional excellence.
